First Day

Our little Charlotte has had a long, wonderful first day. We are closing in our her first 24 hours, and she's experienced a lot. She has had many visitors from the neighborhood (Ronnie the Mayor of Cannonwood being the first), and met her paternal grandparents, who made the drive from Michigan.

Most importantly, however, Charlotte, Niki, and I have been enjoying getting to know one another. She is slowly getting the hang of feeding, and we are learning how to comfort her. Our baby is already a talker, cooing, muttering, and almost purring while she sleeps and wakes. She can cry and belt it out, too. Heck, she's her parents' baby after all, and Niki and I have never been accused of being quiet . . .

We've had a successful midnight feeding, and Niki and I finally got our first hour and a half of sleep (we last slept early Sunday morning). Charlotte is quiet, and we are looking forward to finding a way to quietly transfer her to the baby trolley for a few more hours sleep.

Our e-mail accounts, blog, and telephones have been a-buzz today with well wishers, and we are very thankful for all of your good thoughts, and for the influences you all will be on Charlotte and us as she (and we) grow in the future.

More later, of course!

Love,

C, N, 'n' C

I love that she's a talker. Awwwwww...

I suggested to David yesterday that we get a spool of pink florist ribbon and decorate your mailbox. He said he thought that was a "security breach" and it crossed the line. Excuse me! :)

P.S. Dan (the baby whisperer) is anxious to meet Good Charlotte.

Congratulations from Rochester!!!
We're so happy for all of you, and we're glad to hear that everything went well. Also, it's good to hear that Charlotte was early and Grandma & Grandpa Stringer will be able to enjoy their week. Enjoy all those squeaks and coos, they are the most precious things!

Mom just reminded me that March 10th is my grandparents anniversary. They had 61 years together. It's a good day.

Love, Nancy, Matt, Katie, Cara, Gary & Joyce

I was curious to know what other amazing world events Charlotte will share her day with...On this day in history (March 10)...
-1876: The first successful voice transmission over Alexander Graham Bell's telephone took place in Boston as his assistant heard Bell say, "Mr. Watson, come here. I want you."
-1918: The first Warner Brothers film, Four Years In Germany, was released
-1926: the first Book-of-the-Month Club selection was published
-1964: The first Ford Mustang was produced on this day. The Mustang wasn't released to the public until April 16, 1964. However, one journalist described its unveiling as "the most sensational introduction of modern times." (Can you believe it?!)

The birth of Charlotte Stringer definitely tops the list :)

Love,
Katie
