The Peter Report
Peter got a glowing report from his pediatrician this morning! He officially weighs 11 pounds even (50th percentile) and measures 22 inches long (25th percentile).
Not bad! He performed all his best tricks for the doctor (smiling, holding his head way up while doing tummy time) but he did NOT like his shots. He screamed so hard that no sound actually came out at first. I felt bad laughing, but it was too funny. Charlotte (sitting politely in a chair) only looked mildly concerned. She was much more interested in the stickers the nurse brought her. Poor Peter.

Eight whole weeks old
Peter is a whole eight weeks old now! He slept all the way through the night last Thursday, but it turned out to be sort of a fluke. He's slowly lengthening out the times between feedings at night, but after an initial good chunk of four or five hours of sleep he tends to then go back to waking up every couple of hours.
He never really caught on to nursing (he would nurse for 45 minutes straight, still be starving, and then drink nearly a full serving from a bottle, so we realized he wasn't actually being productive while latched) so I have been pumping a few times a day and feeding it to him by bottle. This means Corey has the lucky job of helping with the night feedings!
PJ is remarkably good-natured when I have to set him aside to deal with his big sister, but he can hold his own in the tantrum department (especially in the evenings). He spits up like a champ, so we're very grateful to have received lots of burp cloths as gifts. Even though I do a load or two of PJ's laundry every two or three days, we somehow manage to find ourselves without any clean burp cloths at times. This could be in part because CJ spirits off the cloths to use as blankets for her baby dolls when she puts them "night night". CJ will even carry around her babies and pat them on the back while making the "shh shh shh" noise to soothe them in imitation of Corey and me.
PJ's eight week check-up is tomorrow, so I will post his official stats when I get them. We're finally out of the eight week quarantine that the doctor had recommended (to avoid public places during flu season until PJ was a little older) and cleared to go anywhere we want (within reason)! I'm just looking forward to getting CJ back to library story time and starting myself back at Stroller Strides. Most of all, we're glad to be able to attend play group. CJ really misses her Zoey, Madison, Charlie P., and Cooper when she can't get to play group. She also misses shopping at Target with Joslyne and Zoey.
Here are some shots of how Peter has grown over the past eight weeks!

Just can't make it any further...
After a fun lunch with our friends Mike and Emily (who were in town from Columbus, Ohio), Charlotte was so wiped out that she fell asleep in the car on the way home. She woke up when I carried her inside, but when I put her on the ground to take her coat off, she sank down to her knees, pulled her arms out of the coat sleeves, and collapsed onto the kitchen floor dead asleep.
This is UNHEARD OF for Ms. Charlie Jo. She has to be coaxed, cajoled, and begged to go to sleep. She has never drifted off in her high chair, watching television, or curled up with a good book. Never.
So what did Mike, Emily, and I do? We laughed and took pictures.

And then Mike decided that the kitchen floor looked like a nice comfy place to take a snooze as well. Goofball.

Tummy time
Whenever I say "tummy time", Charlotte corrects me and says "belly time". I have no idea why. She also corrects me when I sing the line "Brother John" in the song "Frere Jacques". She tells me it should be "Brother Peter". She's such a nutburger. Anyway, here is little Brother Peter doing his "belly time" in a ridiculously cute pair of jammies selected for him by -- who else? -- his Grandma JoJo (the math teacher). Peter shares his sister's distaste for tummy time after just a few minutes of it, can't you tell?
